Moditlo is a 3,300ha Big 4 Game Reserve Estate, forming integral part of the large 12,000 ha (approx.) Bluecanyon Private Game Reserve.
The reserve is located 14km south of Hoedspruit. Moditlo is home to most of South Africa's most famous and rarest game, with more than 40 mammals and 400 bird species on the reserve.

It is home to Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Wild Dogs, Spotted Hyenas, Caracals, Cheetahs, Rhinos and Hippos, amongst many others.

Due to the excellent veld conditions it also has a wide variety of plains game such as, Waterbuck, Wildebeest, Zebra, Giraffe, Kudu, Nyala, Duiker, Warthog, Impala, Steenbok, Tsessebe, Bushpig and dozens of other species.

The Moditlo Estate is an exclusive low density development, offering only 470 stands in total, for private residential use, all measuring approx. 1ha. All stands come fully serviced, with water and electricity supply and road access. All stands are freehold.

The Moditlo Estate is one of the most prestigious and best managed game estates in the Hoedspruit area, an area that is now widely considered South Africa's first choice as a Big Game safari destination.

In early 2002, when Johan Roode was owner of Kapama Nature Reserve and Moria and Hoedspruit farms, approachd the Scheepers family to tell them of his idea to develop the Moria and Hoedspruit farms that lay on the railway line side of the R40 and next to their Riversdale farm across the tar road to the west of Kapama.

He asked the Scheepers family if they would like to join him and do a partial development on Rivesdale. Johan proposed the name Moditlo Estate, naming after the river which runs through Hoedspruit, Moria, and Riversdale. This river is also known as the Umditlo river, but Moditlo Estate was agreed upon. Tragically, Johan Roode passed away a few months later from a form of pneumonia.

Johan Roode will always be remembered as the original founder of the Moditlo Estate, together with the Scheepers family.

The Moditlo Estate's infrastructure was built and developed throughout the mid-2000s, and most stands had been sold by the developer by 2008. By now, all stands have been sold, and they can only be purchased in the secondary market.

The Moditlo Estate now also forms part of the large BlueCanyon Private Game Reserve, which totals approximately 12,000 hectares in total size. This allows for free movement of an ever wider spectrum of wildlife, and Moditlo Estate is now home to many of Africa's most exciting wildlife, such as elephants, rhinos, lions, cheetahs, hippos, giraffes and hundreds of other species.

Set within the beautiful Blue Canyon Private Game reserve the Moditlo Estate has access to some of Africa's rarest and most protected species. Rhinos, elephants, lions, cheetahs and leopards, to just name a few, roam freely through the estate. Almost 400 species of birds inhabit the reserve alone. Several highly endangered species, such as the ground-hornbill, the African wild dog and brown hyena and many others, have settled on Moditlo and have started breeding - much to the delight of the estate's stand owners, animal conservation experts and safari visitors alike
